Foreign Minister Meleșcanu attends the NATO Ministerial Meeting (Brussels, March 31, 2017)

On March 31, 2017, Minister of Foreign Affairs Teodor Meleşcanu will attend the meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs at NATO HQ. The meeting represents an important building block for the upcoming NATO Summit, due to take place on 25 May in Brussels. This ministerial meeting is also the last high level meeting before this event.

 

The agenda of the meeting will focus on issues related to NATOs role in Projecting Stability, both in the Eastern neighborhood, Western Balbakns and  Southern Neighborhood, particularly to NATO’s contribution to international efforts to combat terrorism. Ukraine will be a distinct topic on the agenda, as a session of the ministerial meeting is being organized in the format of the NATO-Ukraine Commission (NUC).

 

Ministers will exchange views on the strategic directions for the Alliance in the current challenging and changing security environment. They will assess the current status of the implementation of the Warsaw Summit’s decisions and will review the priorities for the  forthcoming period with a view to the preparations for the future meeting of Heads of State and Government in May 2017.
